Dear family, friends, and partners,
Greetings from North Carolina! While many of you have been enjoying Fall and cooler weather, we have been experiencing a record-breaking hot streak (high 90s!) As the seasons change, we are reminded of God’s unchanging faithfulness in our lives, as well as your faithful friendship and love toward us.
We are thankful for the privilege of being involved with the work God is doing around the world through our global mission center in Charlotte, and your partnership makes it possible. We want to keep you up to date on some of what’s happening!
There’s a brand-new initiative in SIM that embodies our historic SIM passion for taking the Good News of Jesus to the hard places of the world, where people are living and dying in large numbers with no knowledge of him. This initiative is called “Faithful Witnesses in Forgotten Communities”.
In a nutshell, the purpose of “Faithful Witnesses” is to facilitate ministry in places where there is currently no gospel witness or where the witness is ineffective. Over the next two years, we will launch and support six teams of 12 to 15 faithful witnesses in new communities. We have developed a new funding model to enable workers from all over the world to join Faithful Witness teams.
Joshua Bogunjoko, SIM’s International Director, gives an introduction to this initiative in less than two minutes:
There’s so much more to talk about, including the locations of the first three teams, with workers already on the ground and others preparing to join them. God is doing a new thing, and SIM has the great privilege of participating as He makes his name known. We look forward to telling you more!
We’re excited to be planning a trip to Minnesota to visit with friends and partners, to share stories with you of some of the ways we’re seeing God at work in the lives of people around the world, especially as that involves SIM’s ministries.
We plan to be in Minnesota from November 1st through 11th, and we hope to see and spend time with as many of you as we can!
With our hope in His faithfulness,
Dave and Mary
Please pray for Mary as she will be leaving on October 6th, traveling to Kenya to participate in an SIM conference and workshop. It’s an important time as workers from SIM countries all around the world gather to worship together and learn together, with the goal of increasing our abilities to help people flourish in their lives and ministries.
An SIM opportunities list just like this one is exactly what caught our attention and drew us into SIM… almost 33 years ago. How about you, are you willing to pray for these needs, and even to ask the Lord whether you might be the answer to one of those prayers?
